Below are shown the before and after photos of the graves of Robert Lovett Jr. engraver and maker of the original 1861 confederate cent along with Robert K. Lovett (son),  and Amanda Lovett (wife)

Author Harold Levi author of The Lovett Cent; A Confederate Story and his research associate George Corell  restored Robert Lovett, Jr's gravesite.  The Royal Oak Mint in Royal Oak, Michigan donated 50 of their Confederate cent copies, and  NGC agreed to encapsulate the 50 pieces for free as a donation to the grave restoration.  The total restoration with plaques ran around $4,000.

Robert Lovett's grave is in McConnelsville, Ohio.

Lovett Graves - Before - this is the condition of the graves when Harold Levi  found them, except Robert Lovett, Jr.'s headstone was laying on the ground - He set it back in its pocket in the concrete.

Below Lovett's grave seen here after  the dedication that took place after the restoration was completed.  Robert K. was a member of the GAR (The Grand Army of the Republic) they put a GAR plaque in front of his headstone.  They also had 8.5 inch plaques of the obverse and reverse of the Confederate cent made to put in front of RL, Jr.'s headstone.  Notice the ribbon - they got Beth Deisher from Coin World to cut the ribbon.

The graves from left to right are: Robert K. Lovett (son), Robert Lovett, Jr., Amanda Lovett (wife), Stevenson Guyton (Amanda's nephew)

Below is a picture of the grave after  RL, Jr. was nominated for the ANA Hall of Fame and he was inducted in 2006.  The new plaque makes that note.  The obelisk was given to the great great grandniece of RL, Jr. by the ANA.  She loaned it for the second dedication.
